Symposium Highlights
With an action-packed two days at University College Cork, we're delighted to finally share some of the highlights of Back in the Room - A Youth Theatre Practice Symposium.
Mark O'Brien, Executive Director / Co-Director of the Abbey Theatre, Amharclann Na Mainistreach will deliver our Keynote Address. He'll be joined by Trina McCann, Artistic Director of Pod Youth Theatre, Co. Cavan, and Aoife Murphy from Explore Youth Theatre, Co.Kildare, who'll both share their youth theatre stories from the last two years. Katie Martin will also share news on our national Wellbeing Programme.
We'll premiere a special film celebrating two of Youth Theatre Ireland's founders Emelie Fitzgibbon and Paddy O'Dwyer; Reflections on 40 Years of Youth Theatre.
We have a varied and timely series of workshops from expert facilitators including Dave Kelly, Robbie Taylor Hunt, and Dr. Bernadette Cronin.
Poet Colm Keegan will run a special day-long poetry workshop Word Surge, reflecting on themes of the symposium with Youth Theatre members.
There will also be live Playshare performances from Activate YT, Stagecraft, and Lightbulb YT alongside screenings of Youth Theatre on Film.
