We are pleased to announce that Katie Martin will be joining the Youth Theatre Ireland team as Wellbeing Officer. Katie previously worked for Youth Theatre Ireland as Administrator, and later General Manager, from 2001 - 2018. She also fulfilled the role of Designated Person for Welfare and Child Protection.
Katie worked on many of the organisation’s major projects including the 2005 European’s Children Theatre Encounter, the National Youth Theatre and National Festivals. Katie was a leader with Tallaght Youth Theatre for 7 years. She is extremely passionate about youth theatre and committed to advocating for the sector, in particular, highlighting the many benefits of participation for young people.
Speaking about her appointment she said “I am very much looking forward to engaging with the youth theatre sector again. Youth theatre enriches communities around this country and I am extremely enthused by the opportunity to develop and implement a wellbeing programme which will support both youth theatre leaders and participants.”
Since leaving the organisation she has worked as an editor and writer. Her poems have been published in a number of magazines and journals both in Ireland and abroad. She has also pursued her interest in wellbeing and mental health.
