Artist biography
Tony is a director, educator and theatre-maker specialising in devising theatre with young people. He was Technical Director of the Institute of Contemporary Arts, Director of the Barnet Drama Centre and Manager of the Man in The Moon Theatre; all in London. He was Stage Production Officer with Aberdeen District Council in Scotland, covering all the Council’s venues and Assistant Director of St. Stephen’s Theatre in Cardiff, Artistic Director of Cork’s Granary Theatre and taught on UCC’s under-graduate theatre programme and ran the Gaiety School of Acting Cork division.
He is currently a Regional Coordinator and Creative Associate on the Arts Council’s Creative Schools Programme, working with schools in the delivery of Arts through Education and is an Engagement Coordinator with the Dublin City Council Culture Company. He has continued to be Artistic Director of Bare Cheek Productions and County Wexford Youth Theatre since 1998. Tony has recently become more involved in film and TV, directing a series of TV shorts for the Arts Council (CSTV), some short films and two features, including the award-winning ‘Envy’ (2024).

Education and qualification
Tony has a post-graduate degree in Performance Studies from Middlesex University and an MA in Drama & Theatre Studies from UCC. He has been facilitating youth arts for many years in the U.K. and in Ireland. He works with many schools throughout Ireland facilitating creativity with students and teachers. He is a Creative Cluster Facilitator and a multi-awarded artist by NYCI, Creative Ireland and the Arts Council. His ethos is based on the Lundy Method of Child Participation and his skills range from devising new work to production management.
