Artist biography
Sophie is a theatre maker from Drogheda, Co. Louth; working predominantly as a Lighting Designer, Facilitator and Technician. Sophie is interested in curating a practice which is youth led, and focuses on integrating young people into all aspects of the process. They are particularly interested in engaging young people in aspects of theatre outside of acting, having found their love of lighting through workshops they participated in as a member of Droichead Youth Theatre.
Sophie is interested in devising and creating new work, with one of their works "Tech! The Musical" appearing in Youth Theatre Ireland's Playshare collection, alongside several plays they've acted as dramaturg on.
Sophie works professionally as a lighting designer, creating and shaping worlds through colour and angle. They've designed work around Dublin, Drogheda, and for several national tours.
Sophie has previously worked as part of an international team, creating workshop templates and activities which were subsequently distributed globally in four languages. Alongside this team they also facilitated workshops across Poland that used non formal education practices to blend explorations of cultural diversity, the sustainable development goals and the power of young people to be change makers.
Sophie is interested and available for short term projects and once off workshops.
