Shirley Cahill

Keen to explore the wealth of opportunities and depths of human emotion in the shared endeavour of creating theatre, I thrive on enabling suspension of belief, where artistic muscles can be nurtured and flexed. Facilitating drama is my bread and wine and I aspire to hear when creativity whispers. In the knowledge that one size does not fit all, my mission is: “don’t let anyone take your smile”. My goal is to respond to the needs in the room, skill sharpen, expand the creative tool-belt and offer variety in a safe collaborative setting where everyone is invited to share and have fun.

I set up / co-direct our local youth theatre. I helped set up, act, direct /produce with our local adult drama group. Drama is my hobby since the mid 1980s, acting and studying (London College of Music, Teaching Diploma) whilst at school /during university (B.Commerce), having earned London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art examination grades /medals. I also compete to keep myself honed in acting!

My most recent training is with Youth Theatre Ireland (Drama Facilitation Training Course May 2023). Continuous Professional Development forms part of my ongoing approach to drama, theatre, film and other disciplines.
