Oğuzhan Şahin

Oğuzhan Şahin graduated from the Süleyman Demirel University's (Turkey) Performing Arts - Acting Department in 2019. One year after completing his education, he was selected for the European Solidarity Corps project in Crooked House Theatre Company, Ireland, where he provided drama workshops for young people for one year. He also performed the role of Shylock in Crooked House Theatre's Shakespeare production of "The Merchant of Venice" in 2021. Apart from the drama workshops, he also directed a play called "Boy with a Suitcase" with another international volunteer.

After completing the volunteer project in Ireland, Oğuzhan continued to work with Crooked House managed the drama workshops within the theatre, in secondary schools, in youth centres. In 2022, as part of the National Theatre London Connections festival, he directed a play called "Like There's No Tomorrow" for Kildare Youth Theatre, which was performed in Newbridge and Belfast. As of September 2023, Oğuzhan continues his role as the Company Manager at Crooked House Theatre. His role includes supervising the volunteers, supervising the facilitation process and facilitation workshops on behalf of Crooked House.

After graduating from the college, I started working an a theatre company which produces children's plays in English. I worked as an actor and also assistant director. The productions were interactive and included some drama activities during the performances.

After joining Crooked House Theatre Company, I started taking a weekly Drama Facilitation Training by Anna Galligan, for a year. I also observed and assisted Peter Hussey (Artistic Director of Crooked House) in some of his workshops with young people.

I have been actively facilitating drama workshops for 3 years.
