Artist biography
For over two decades John has seen the theatre’s tremendous power to positively shape the lives of young people both on and off stage. He is committed to ensuring that young people everywhere have the chance to share in that power.
As an award-winning teacher, director, and actor John’s experiences in offering unique, engaging, creative opportunities have fueled his conviction that everyone has something to share and that we are all made richer when working together.
John ensures that every person feels welcome, safe, and valued in the space. His extensive experience underpins his skill at leading a group forward while also letting the work go where the group needs.
John holds an MFA in Theatre from the University of Idaho (USA). He has held third level appointments and served as head of Performing Arts programmes at Lindenwood University and Principia College, and as the Director of Education at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival (USA).
He received several Certificates of Merit for Directing from the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival, was named Teacher of the Year at Principia in 2017 and Professor of the Year at Lindenwood in 2020. He recived the Mayor’s Award for Excellence in Arts (Education) in 2006.
