Artist biography
Hannah Carberry is a playwright and creative writing workshop facilitator from County Waterford.
She holds an MA in Playwriting & Dramaturgy from the University of Galway, and has received support on local and national levels to develop her work.
She was a writer for the ‘Faoin Speir’ project facilitated by the Spraoi Festival with Garter Lane Arts Centre, which re-imagined traditional and public realm spaces in Waterford city through a mix of visual, musical and spoken-word experiences. She then continued her work with Spraoi on the ‘Faoin Speir – Salute to Spring’ project in collaboration with the Old Market House Arts Centre in Dungarvan.
She worked with Curious State Theatre Company and Theatre Royal Waterford on ‘The Climate Stage is Yours’, a festival of short plays themed on climate change that utilised ideas from primary school pupils in Waterford, which were then presented to them on the Theatre Royal stage.
Hannah works as creative writing tutor at Waterford Youth Arts to young people aged 7 to 14. She also is a facilitator for the Laochas – The Warrior Soul Project, a youth mental health charity which provides school workshops and summer camps which teach mindfulness skills through creative activities.
