Leading On… June 17th - 19th

This will be our first in-person leader's event of 2022 and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Maynooth this year.

It is a valuable opportunity for youth drama practitioners to explore new approaches, gather new material, and develop their own artistic practice.

It’s also a great chance get to know other youth theatre and drama facilitators from across the country.

Oonagh McLoughlin will be facilitating the weekend this year and will look at how do we go from space with nothing in it, no script, nothing, to performance. What techniques can take us there? What mindset takes us there? In these workshops we will use mime, physical theatre, devising skills and improv to look at ways of taking our participants from nothing to something.

The work will be bracketed with some mindful exercises to cushion the experience. We will explore what is happening internally as we create. How can we support our nervous systems as we are jumping into the unknown? How can we help our participants trust the creative process?

During the weekend we will devise short original pieces. We will explore different improvisation and devising techniques. But we will use mindfulness to reflect on our internal processes as we do so. As facilitators, it is our aim to create fun safe artistic environments for our participants to flourish and grow.

These workshops will have you taking creative risks as you produce work while reflecting on what you need to stay grounded during the process.

This year Leading On… will be held from the 17th to the 19th of June 2022 at Maynooth University and there is currently very limited availability.

You must be available for the entirety of the course from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon.

The residential cost is €120, including your accommodation, breakfast, and lunch.Places are reserved on a first come first serve basis.
