                                Youth Theatre Ireland Welfare Panel Recruitment

                                Youth Theatre Ireland is looking to add to our much valued and greatly experienced team of Welfare officers.

                                The Welfare team works directly with young people both in person and online on our events, activities and programmes throughout the year such as Young Critics, National Youth Theatre, attending Youth Board meetings and supporting staff on Youth Theatre Ireland events and trainings where appropriate. Employment is offered on a casual short term contracted basis depending on availability of staff on the panel at the time of a Youth Theatre Ireland event /programme.

                                Duties of the Welfare team include:

                                Working with and supporting young people with a variety of needs and from different backgrounds.

                                Reporting to and working with Youth Theatre Ireland’s Head of Welfare/Designated Liaison Person and other staff to ensure participants are safe at all times.

                                Supporting participants with any challenges or difficulties they may be experiencing.

                                Liaising with parents/guardians and youth theatre leaders
                                Reporting any welfare or child protection concerns to the Designated

                                Liaison Person as outlined in Youth Theatre Ireland’s Welfare and Child Protection Policy and making a joint report with the DLP to Tusla if appropriate.

                                Following the procedures and approaches outlined in Youth Theatre Ireland’s Welfare and Child Protection Policy including safe use of images, anti-bullying, confidentiality, working with young people over 18, dealing with disruptive behaviour, communicating by mobile phone etc.

                                Adhering to procedures for Youth Theatre Ireland Welfare Officers as provided by Youth Theatre Ireland.

                                Adhering to Youth Theatre Ireland’s ethos and approach, as outlined in the Code of Behaviour for staff/volunteers.

                                Attending induction sessions, trainings, planning meetings, and Welfare Officer team meetings as required.

                                Liaising with the Youth Theatre Ireland staff on logistics including accommodation, meal bookings, timetable etc.

                                Handling Petty Cash, paying for meals, travel etc. and keeping records of all expenditure as outlined by Youth Theatre Ireland staff.

                                Responsibility for confidential information pertaining to young people in Youth Theatre Ireland’s care while on shift.

                                Responsibility for the welfare of the group during programme activities, travel between venues and over-night stays as per the event schedule.

                                Handover and briefings to other welfare officers and or Youth Theatre Ireland team at the end of shift

                                Conducting check in's with young people during the event/activity

                                Personal Attributes and Skills:

                                · You are a collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude

                                · You have excellent organisational and communications skills and have the ability to change, adapt and be flexible when the need arises

                                · You are a problem solver with a positive work ethic and are able to work under pressure in sometimes challenging situations and prioritise between conflicting demands

                                · You have a high degree of personal and professional integrity and can be placed in positions of trust and responsibility including access to sensitive and confidential data

                                Garda Vetting and reference checks will be a requirement for this role prior to any employment offered.

                                Renumeration is offered at an hourly rate.
