Youth Theatre Ireland in association with Kerry LCYP at Kerry ETB, and the Arts Office at Kerry County Council, are hosting an online information session on June 2nd | 1.00-2.00pm via zoom.
This will be an introduction to youth theatre practice, with an overview of the sector and an insight into youth theatre development in Kerry. It is a free event and open to any stakeholder aged over 18 years of age who would like to get involved.
We will then host a one day, workshop training event for artists, facilitators, drama teachers and volunteers on June 9th | 4.30-7.30pm Anam Killarney Arts and Cultural CentreEast Avenue, Killarney.
This training event is for anyone interested in upskilling in their facilitation practice and learning more about Youth Theatre Ireland’s QQI accredited Drama Facilitation Training Course.
Led by expert facilitators from Youth Theatre Ireland, this free workshop will give you:
Practical experience of tools for leading drama workshops with group exercises to take away and combine with your own work
Information on a new part-time QQI accredited Drama Facilitation Training Course, beginning September 2022

Who is this for?
Adults, aged over 18, with an interest in working with young people in a creative context.Any performing arts graduate, theatre artist, former youth theatre member, youth worker, teacher, amateur drama member, stage school operator or volunteer. We welcome participation and input from venue managers and other service providers.
This training is aimed at anyone interested in developing additional skills for using theatre in their work with young people.
The Arts Office aims to support and strengthen the Youth Theatre programme throughout the County and encourages those with a theatre background and interest in working with young people to take part in the training.
Refreshments will be provided on the day.
About the Course
This QQI Accredited Level 6 course will explore two modules designed to develop your skills of facilitation and leadership as well as teach you the building blocks of creating your own workshop programme. The DFTC offers level 6 QQI accredited training in Leadership and Engaging with Drama.The training will be facilitated by Youth Theatre Ireland’s team members: Dave Kelly (National Training Co-ordinator), Barry Morgan (Special Projects Officer and Alan King (Deputy Director).
The training is funded by Creative Ireland.

An objective of the Arts Office at Kerry County Council is to engage young people in the arts. Participation in youth arts equips young people with a skillset that is applicable throughout life. Youth theatre is a very popular artform in Kerry and has proven to help build confidence and develop communication skills in young people.
