One of Youth Theatre Ireland's longest running and most popular programmes!
The Young Critics brings together 14 young people from different youth theatres across Ireland to see shows, discuss their opinions, make new friends, and of course have fun while doing it!
Over 6 months, the Young Critics meet online and in-person for workshops with Rebecca Feely, National Programme Co-Ordinator, and Karen Fricker, theatre critic and academic, to ask and answer questions like: What is theatre criticism? Who is theatre criticism for? Why is it important?
Throughout the programme, participants are encouraged to respond creatively to the theatre they see and to express their thoughts and opinions. Their reviews are published on our Young Critics Blog and last year their reviews of Dublin Theatre Festival were published on RTÉ's website.
If you like seeing theatre, expressing your opinion, meeting new people, and days filled with workshops, then this is the programme for you! You can find out more information on our Young Critics Page.
This programme is fully funded: all accommodation, food, and transport expenses are covered.
