Wonder Youth Theatre Affiliates to Youth Theatre Ireland

Wonder Youth Theatre, hailing from Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan, are the latest group to become fully affiliated members of Youth Theatre Ireland. They were accepted by the board in March and join an ever growing network of youth theatres in Co. Cavan.

Wonder Youth Theatre was set up during the COVID-19 pandemic to try combat isolation for the young people and to reach the diverse community in Ballyjamesduff, which has many different nationalities living side by side.

Established by Emma Reid, who graduated Artstrain in 2011, she wanted to become affiliated with Youth Theatre Ireland as she was aware of the huge benefits to the group.

"We would love to see Wonder Youth theatre grow so that young people wanting to learn about the world of theatre know exactly where we are and what we do.

Wonder Youth Theatre wants to develop and empower young people to use their voice to promote integration, inclusion, and identity. We do this through drama workshops and performances that respond to the needs of our members.

Our group works with young people ages 12 to 21 but our oldest member right now is 18. We currently have 18 members aged between 12 to 18."

Operating from Saint Joesph's Parish Hall in Ballyjamesduff, they are currently taking new members.
