Youth Theatre Ireland is seeking experienced partners to establish three new youth theatres in Dublin South Central, addressing the area's significant lack of youth theatre provision.
Three New Youth Theatres in Dublin
Currently, South Dublin has the lowest level of access to youth theatre in the entire country, with only one youth theatre per 37,617 young people.*
With funding secured from Dublin City Council’s Community Development Grant, Youth Theatre Ireland will support and mentor the development of these new groups in:
- Crumlin/Walkinstown
- Inchicore/Drimnagh/Bluebell
- Rialto/The Liberties.
Our Vision is to provide access to youth theatre to every young person in Ireland.
The aim of this initiative is to introduce youth theatre activities in organisations already working with young people and to develop thriving youth theatres within these structures and communities.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people. Youth theatre empowers young people, fostering creativity, building confidence, and developing essential life skills.
Partner organisations will receive:
- Financial Support: A budget to run youth theatre activities for a year.
- Expert Guidance: Mentorship and guidance from Youth Theatre Ireland over an 18-month period.
- Professional Development: One place on Youth Theatre Ireland’s QQI accredited Drama Facilitation Training Course.
- Resources and Networking:Organisational Membership of Youth Theatre Ireland, access to resources, and additional training events.

"“Thanks to the support of Dublin City Council Community Development Fund, we can invest in and mentor organisations already doing excellent work with young people in Dublin South Central. By introducing youth theatre into the community, we aim to reach even more young people, providing them with quality theatre and arts experiences, and giving them the opportunity to grow as people and artists. As someone who grew up in Dublin 12, I know the value of arts participation, the experiences and opportunities it provides, and the possibilities it can bring.”" Alan King, Deputy Director, Youth Theatre Ireland.
