Welcome Fun House Youth Theatre
It gives us great pleasure to welcome Fun House Youth Theatre in Tullamore as fully affiliated members of Youth Theatre Ireland. They were accepted by the board on February 16th, and have re-established affiliated youth theatres in Co. Offaly.
Fun House Youth Theatre was established in Autumn 2020 with the assistance of a Creative Ireland Development Grant. This was part of our joint strategy to establish youth theatres in Counties Offaly, Dublin and Westmeath. Jay Origan and Sinead Handy, the two lead facilitators, were trainees on our inaugural QQI Level 6 course in 2020.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions, they launched the youth theatre initially via zoom but are now fully back in the room, with 13 members.
Operating from Saint Mary’s Youth and Community Centre in Tullamore, Fun House Youth Theatre aims to provide a safe welcoming fun space for young people to create and be creative. The purpose of the youth theatre is to provide a sustainable, non-profit group within Offaly, who can provide access to a regular theatre experience, at a very low cost, to young people from all backgrounds.
They meet every Tuesday in St Marys from 5:30 - 7pm and You can find them here and contact them at funhouseyouththeatre@gmail.com
