                                Child Protection Awareness Training Course

                                Join Louise Holian, Youth Theatre Ireland's Child Protection and Welfare Officer, for an online Child Protection Awareness Training Course. This is an important course for all youth theatre leaders / facilitators working directly with young people and those who hold child protection roles such as Designated Liaison Person within their youth theatre. The course is certified through the National Youth Council of Ireland and it is free!

                                The course will be delivered on Zoom over two, interactive morning sessions on:

                                Tuesday, September 21 10.15am - 1.45pm

                                Wednesday, September 22 10.15am - 1.45pm

                                Full attendance and participation for both interactive training sessions is required to complete the training and receive your certificate.

                                Participants will :

                                Have an understanding of the relevance of child safeguarding and protection to their work;
                                Be aware of the broader context for this work (legislation and guidelines);
                                Have explored a range of attitudes in relation to this issue;
                                Be aware of the definitions of child abuse;
                                Be aware of how workers might become aware of/have concerns about abuse;
                                Have an understanding of the steps in a recruitment and selection process for those working with children/young people;
                                Have an understanding of possible responses to dealing with disclosures/concerns/suspicions through groups discussions and scenarios;
                                Be aware of reporting procedures and responsibilities;
                                Have explored how to work safely with young people.
