Youth Theatre Ireland was delighted to offer Kildare and Backstage youth theatres a bursary to attend Outrage by Deirdre Kinahan, presented by Fishamble, The New Play Company, a new show which toured nationally in October and November.
These bursaries are part of Youth Theatre Ireland’s youth theatre support scheme, which marks an ongoing collaboration with Fishamble: The New Play Company, who are committed to bringing new theatre audiences to new theatre productions. The bursaries included up to 15 tickets and up to €100 travel costs to cover the expense of attending a performance date of their choosing.
Speaking about the bursaries, Eoghan Doyle, Director of Youth Theatre Ireland said ‘We are delighted to continue our partnership with Fishamble, the New Play Company by offering bursaries to attend new Irish theatre. It is important for the development of young artists to see other work and experience different stories. I can think of no better company to work with through this bursary scheme than Fishamble who have been championing new Irish work for decades. We look forward to continuing our partnership with them and offering more opportunities for young people to see their work in the future.’
Following the story of two sisters, OUTRAGE is a play that explores the true nature of women’s role in the Irish revolutionary wars and in particular the Civil War in 1922. Based on a true story, Alice and Nell play key roles in organising civic resistance and the propaganda war.
This powerful play challenges previously held historical narratives as Ireland spins toward a shattering Civil clash that split the nation and continues to haunt Irish politics, society and culture to this day.
