Future Tense consists of five pieces devised by Backstage Youth Theatre members that are interconnected by the theme of confinement. Using film, text and live music, this is an original performance for the COVID age that will be presented on 26 and 27 September. Audience members wind their way through various spaces of Longford's Backstage Theatre.
Members have also recently finished lending their voices to a radio production of Gary Duggan’s Country. The play was inspired by the world of Shakespeare and fairy tales, and it tells the story of a family, seven girls and one boy, who live in a magical forest. The repercussions of a car crash reveal an edgy tale of hidden desires, power struggles and the effects of confinement, full of surprises and shrouded in secrets. The finished product will receive its radio broadcast premiere via Shannonside FM radio on Halloween night, 31 October.
