Muireann Kavanagh

Muireann Kavanagh is a clown, a director, a performer and an enthusiastic theatre-maker. She achieved her undergraduate degree in 2022 from University of Galway, where she studied Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies with English. She has directed productions with Cult Theatre and UG Dramsoc, and assisted in production of shows with war/war/war/ Theatre Company and Speak Like No-one in Particular, featuring in Kilkenny Arts Festival.

Muireann loves working with people when they’re having the most fun, so working as a performer and director led her into work as a facilitator, where she now sees first hand the power of theatre as a means to learn and grow.

I completed my undergraduate degree in Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies with English, while in University I studied a wide variety of performance styles and techniques, including clowning, commedia dell'arte, naturalism and expressionism. In my third year, I specialised in subjects of Theatre for Young Audiences and Applied Theatre, as I had particular focus on the power of theatre as a means to enact change in one's community.
In 2022 I achieved a distinction in Youth Theatre Ireland's diploma in Youth Theatre Facilitating and I have worked as a facilitator and leader since then.
