Youth Work Showcase - 27 September

Are your youth theatre members interested in speaking directly to their local TDs and Senators about the importance of youth theatre? The National Youth Council of Ireland has invited all members of the Oireachtas to attend the Youth Work Showcase and hear first-hand from young people in their area about youth work.

Date: Wednesday, 27 September,  11am – 3pm
Venue: Round Room of the Mansion House, Dublin 2

The showcase will offer young people an opportunity to share their experiences and tell members of the Oireachtas what they do, what they learn and the benefits of youth work for them and their communities. NYCI hopes this showcase will reinforce their message that increased investment in youth work is needed. It is important for youth theatre to be part of this youth work event and for politicians to hear about the amazing work youth theatres achieve with young people all over the country!

Youth Theatre Ireland is seeking 4 youth theatres we can nominate to take part in this event. Please contact Rhona at rhona@youththeatre.ie to express interest in taking part by TUESDAY, 12 SEPT.

Interested groups are committing to:

  • Sending 3-4 young people and a leader to attend the event from 10am to 3pm in Dublin on 27 September
  • Sending organisational contact details & leader's mobile number which can be shared with NYCI
  • Providing completed parental consent forms for any young people under 18 years attending to be shared with NYCI
  • Being available to speak to NYCI or Youth Theatre Ireland staff in advance of the event to help with planning.

NYCI will reimburse public transport costs for groups to attend on the day subject to the provision of receipts. Costs will be reimbursed on the day. All participants will be provided with light lunch and refreshments.
