Youth Theatre Ireland Announces Eoghan Doyle as New Director

Youth Theatre Ireland welcomes Eoghan Doyle to the role of Director this month.

Eoghan Doyle brings in-depth knowledge and experience of youth theatre from many perspectives to the role. Eoghan has been Assistant County Arts Officer in Kildare County Council for the last 13 years. During this time he spearheaded a range of supports for youth theatres in the county, including annual funding and professional development supports, as well as establishing the award winning Kildare Young Filmmakers and writing the county’s first youth arts strategy. Eoghan began his creative career training as an actor in DIT’s Conservatory of Music and Drama before undertaking Artstrain, Youth Theatre Ireland’s Drama Facilitation Programme. He was Artistic Director of Clondalkin Youth Theatre, and was Irish Animateur at the European Children’s Theatre Encounter in 2005. He was a board member of Youth Theatre Ireland from 2007-2011 and Acting Director from 2018-2019.  Eoghan is a co-founder of WarTank Productions and has produced a number of films funded through the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland’s Sound and Vision Programme.

Taking over from Michelle Carew who has moved to a new role as Cork City Arts Officer, Eoghan stated, "I am delighted and honoured to be joining the hard working and talented team at Youth Theatre Ireland and I look forward to supporting and advocating for youth theatre and young people’s creative expression as part of the vibrant community of youth theatre members and leaders across the country."

Speaking about the appointment, Niall Cleary, chair of the Youth Theatre Ireland Board stated, "We are delighted to welcome Eoghan Doyle as the new director of Youth Theatre Ireland.  Eoghan has a long association with Youth Theatre Ireland.  His passion, vision and commitment to youth theatre, along with the outstanding team that is currently in place will ensure youth theatre in Ireland is in safe hands.  At a time of such uncertainty, Eoghan's leadership will provide the continuity and ambition to strengthen an already wonderful organisation."
