Laying The Foundations: Cross-border Training Weekend
Youth Theatre Ireland and Theatre NI are delighted to be hosting this cross-border training weekend for youth theatre leaders and practitioners from north and south of the border. The training will introduce participants to the facilitation methodologies included in Laying The Foundations, a practical youth drama manual that guides facilitators through a ten-week drama workshop programme for youth theatres.
Dates: 22 - 23 September
Venue: The Garage Theatre, Monaghan
Bookings Via Eventbrite
The training will include practical drama workshops, planning exercises, discussion and feedback sessions. The process will help participants to interrogate the programme from the facilitator’s perspective and gain an insight into how to best use the publication. All participants will receive a free copy of Laying the Foundations.
The weekend will also include formal and informal opportunities to network with other practitioners north and south of the border and explore opportunities for developing partnerships for the benefit of youth theatre members.
Over two days participants will have the opportunity to:
- Source new material and approaches to elements of drama facilitation and explore fresh ways to build basic drama skills with new youth theatre members
- Share best practice approaches from youth theatres north and south of the border.
- Explore opportunities for creating future collaborations and partnerships
- Identify funding opportunities for future cross-border partnerships
Please note: Places are limited. 10 places will be offered to youth theatre leaders/practitioners from Youth Theatre Ireland's membership and 10 places from Theatre NI's. Participants must be aged over 18.
Places will be confirmed after the deadline: 04 September
There is no cost for the two-day training weekend. Accommodation will be provided to those who require it and will be organised once places are confirmed. Lunch is provided.
