Centre Stage +20: What Comes Next?

Centre Stage +20: What Comes Next?

The Centre Stage +20 research project aims to generate a detailed picture of current youth theatre activity in Ireland and to determine the key priorities for the future development of youth theatre. With Census week taking place last November, we are now moving on to the next stages of the project.

Questionnaires for Youth Theatre Leaders and Members

When?: April 18

What is it?: Youth theatre leaders and members (aged 12 +) will be asked to complete questionnaires to gather information regarding their profile and youth theatre experiences. All questionnaires are anonymous.

How do I get involved?: The questionnaires for leaders and members will be posted to youth theatres in April.

Youth Theatre Member Workshops

When?: April 18 – May 18

What is it?: Youth theatre members will be consulted through drama workshops that are designed to explore their opinions on key youth theatre issues and gather information on their participation.

How do I get involved?: Would you like to host a Centre Stage +20 workshop at your youth theatre venue? If you have space and would like to take part then we’d love to hear from you! We are seeking 5 venues around the country. Contact Alan to let us know. Once the Centre Stage +20 workshop schedule is confirmed, information will be sent out and young people from all youth theatres can sign-up to attend!

About Centre Stage +20

Youth Theatre Ireland staff will be working with its affiliated youth theatres between November 2017 and August 2018 to gather information which will help us tell the story of: youth theatre practice and programming; youth theatre members and leaders; youth theatre structures, funding and resources; outcomes of participation in youth theatre. We intend to gather this information through workshops for youth theatre members; a census week; questionnaires for leaders and members and interviews with selected youth theatres.

The research project will be led by Rhona Dunnett, Research and Development Officer at Youth Theatre Ireland. If you have any questions or want to find out more about your involvement, then contact her by email.

Centre Stage +20 is the third national study of youth theatre undertaken by Youth Theatre Ireland. If you are interested in previous Centre Stage reports, check out the research page on our website: http://www.youththeatre.ie/resources/research-projects
